Snowboarding in Scotland
Scotland has a number of highly attractive snowboarding locations.
Winter sports aficionados might not instantly consider snowboarding, but between the country’s five primary ski resorts, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the snow.
The Cairngorm ski resort is arguably the best known snow area in Scotland. Locals say that the mountain gets the most snow, and has the best scenery in the country. The area has 22 separate runs and 12 lifts. The area also has a park area for snowboarders.
Glenshee is the largest area for snowboarding in Scotland, with approximately 36 runs, and a total of 21 lifts. The conditions at Glenshee are not always the best in the country, but the varied terrain and sheer number of runs keeps snowboarders coming back.
Glencoe is the most scenic area for snowboarding in Scotland. The conditions are also not the best, and the resort is made up of 7 lifts and 19 runs. However, the area draws its appeal from the Fly Paper run, which is said to be one of the most challenging in the country.
The Lecht resort is the most popular with snowboarders in Scotland, as it has a fully featured park, with a wide selection of jumps and halfpipes. The terrain park is accompanied by a 18 runs, and full snowmaking facilities.
The Nevis Range is unique for snowboarding in Scotland, as it is the highest area, and is the only one with a mountain gondola. The area is known for its off-piste boarding.
